The ISO 179 specifies a method for determining the Charpy impact strength of plastics under defined conditions.
The principle behind the ISO 179 is that a pendulum (striker) is released from a certain angle. When the striker reaches the bottom of the pendulum curve, the specimen is impacted. The energy absorbed in the impact is calculated based on the angle of rise (the angle of which the striker travels after impact).
The Tram testing equipment provides an easy accessible testing environment. When a test is performed, the Charpy impact strength is calculated automatically by the TramQA software.
