EN 520 – Gypsum Plasterboards: Definitions, Requirements, and Test Methods
EN 520 specifies the characteristics, performance requirements, and test methods for gypsum plasterboards intended for use in building construction, including boards designed for secondary manufacturing operations. The standard applies to plasterboards that can receive either direct surface decoration or gypsum plaster, and it defines key product properties such as reaction to fire, water vapour permeability, flexural strength (breaking load), impact resistance, and thermal resistance.
This standard does not cover plasterboards that have undergone additional manufacturing processes, such as insulating composite panels or boards with thin decorative laminations. Testing in accordance with this standard ensures reliable performance and consistent quality for gypsum plasterboard products.
